young's peocedure
« on: December 10, 2009, 11:16:18 PM »
Had young's procedure 4 weeks ago and just need someone to talk to and get some advice. I am having problems coping with it, blocked nose, etc. I don't even know what is normal afterwards.

nose is closed off to prevent air entering into the nose which causes th bleeds in the first place. i had it done 3 years ago both sides full nasal closure not 1 single nose bleed since you have to learn to breathe thro your mouth you have no sense of smell and taste is severely deteriorated still no bleeds far outweigh these down sides good luck   Phil

Had the just right side done. Both sides are almost permenantly blocked and feel like I have a head cold. On the side that was done the lower part of my nose (nostril) feels as if it has been filled with concrete. It is very itchy at times and I still have the feeling that it has when it starts to bleed. I do not go back to the ENT unit until the 11th and just wondered if this was natural!

Hi Erica

I have not been online for sometime now, and have just been catching up on some old posts since I was last here.  I was just wondering how you are getting on now that it has been a fair amount of time since your op?  I had Youngs Procedure done some years ago now, like you, only to my right nostrel.  I found it quite hard to adapt to start with and had many of the symptons that you have described, but over time, things have improved and I have become more used to it.
