Advice from my ENT Consultant

Hi Everyone! :)

Just to let you all know.  My ENT consultant gave me the following solution to make up.  If used regularly, should help to keep the inside of your nose moist, which in turn should help to reduce nose bleeds.

I have tried it, and it did appear to make a bit of a difference, but I guess we all react differently.

"One pint of boiled water.  Add one level teaspoon of salt and a small pinch of Bicarbonate of soda.  Use as often as you want, on average 5-6 times a day.  DO NOT SPRAY IT IN COLD!"

Just thought I would share my knowledge with you guys.  It may be worth a try!

That was a good idea tracy,I hope it works for you, keeping the nasals moist most of the time or at least moistening them when they feel as if they are crackely is no doubt the best form of delaying a bleed.

Many many years ago,I was seeing an old Indian consultant called Mr Rhamachandra, and he concocted me a prescription to be made up at the chemists for the very same purpose,I will allways remenber the pharmacist on looking at the script turning to me and saying, what on earth are you going to use this on.
I told him and he said its  base element was glycerine.
Anyway he made it and I tried it,it kept my nasals moist ok so I suppose it did work but it was the summertime and after a while I began to feel like a mobile fly trap as little ones were sticking to my nostrils, horrible,so I only used it at nights, and I must admit after a while I stopped using it as my nose always seemed sticky and it was hard to tell at the time what was worst the short bleeds I had at that time or a sticky wicket.
