What do we need in a logo?

Well, to be honest I'm not the most creative of people, so I am thinking of hiring somebody else to make a logo for the site.

However I am also not the most imagnitive of people, so if people could reply here with what sort of look you think the logo for the site should have, I would very much appreciate it - if possible please describe with it as the impression that you get that what this site is all about.

Also, although the URL to this site is http://www.hht.me.uk - and is called HHT / UK, it is obviously not restricted as such - do you believe there should be a name change (or slight modification of the name, e.g to HHT:UK), or do you not think it really matters - the reason I ask is that obviously the name would be in the logo.

The question is, would that make the logo make this place look positive though? Since I'd obviously want this place to appear as welcoming as possible and convey that it is a great place to come and interact with other members who have HHT/know someone with HHT etc..

Why not it be some kind of loveable mascot with red dots? Like a panda or something? I can't really think of anything else that we have in common; I'd have suggested a heart with red dots but they wouldn't show up very well, whould they?

I agree, it should be something with red dots.  When I read the first suggestion, it just made me smile    I don't think it is negative, just very apt!
