Brain Abscess
« on: January 22, 2008, 09:37:10 AM »
Hello all! Any other brain abscess survivors out there? Trying to find out how rare/common this complication of HHT is, and if anyone is interested in sharing their stories of recovery and experiences of treatment during this time. My mum had to learn to eat and wash again after her brain surgery but now she is living independantly and driving her car again! Miracles do happen! Scorpio

Hi Scorpio,

Yes there is another brain abcess survivor out here ... I'm still recovering but can only say that yeah there is life after it and hey I'm so grateful to finally get rid of those headaches  ;D

Give your mum a HUGE hug from me ... and feel free to Email me. It must've been a pretty tough time for you too.

kind regards
April

Hi again Scorpio,

Seems like we have all been away for a bit  :) Thank you for your reply.

I hope you are both doing well, it is a life changing experience.

I believe it is a rare complication of HHT. Out of 35 of us in my family with HHT, I am fortunately the only one.  And I believe that it is also rare to have a 100% of the family with it (albeit with varying degrees).

And yes I am happy. I know what matters to me in life now and am not distracted by the unimportant. I have discovered my true freinds and relationships.  I am limited to what I can do but I still have my life and for that I will be forever thankful to everyone who treated (and still treats) me, my brother and mother and my fiance.

Hugs for you and your mum. Hope you bothe stay well. tc
kind regards
April
