just saying hi
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:43:17 PM »
hi im michelle im new and will probley be asking questions left right and centre and my first one is, my mother and grandmother suffer severe nose bleeds (nan in hosp again as i speak)
mother has been offered nasal closure but is afraid of choking to death as she bleeds from high up in her nose.
when it bleeds it also goes down the back of her throat as well as nostrols she often has to dislodge clots as large as pieces of liver from the back of her throat (which make me heave :-\) she worries me as she is always anemic even though she does have transfusions.she also has been hospitalized 3 times for intestinal bleeds ,on 1 occasion for 3 weeks.so now to my ques, has any one had nasel closure who suffer similar bleeds high up in the nostrols if so has the closure been a success? thanks for taking the time to read this as i do go on a bit! thanks michelle ;D

I have had a full nasal closure and have not had one single nosebleed since. My blood count is now 11 -12 not 5 and less and the necessaty for transfusions have siezed. As for choling then no you learn to live with only breathing thro your mouth you time how you eat as well to compensate, yes it is a nuisance but the beefits far outweigh that. ALSO SPEAK WITH lenny who is also a member of this site and has had nasal closure. HOPE THIS HELPS
REGARDS   phil
